Why Fabulate Uses Account Authentication in SEA and How It Protects You as a Creator

Learn why Fabulate uses account authentication, how it protects you as a creator and why it matters across Southeast Asia. We explain what we can access, what we can’t and how you stay in full control at every step.

If you are a creator working across Southeast Asia, you have probably noticed that platforms and brands are paying closer attention to identity, authenticity and payment security. It can feel like every platform is asking you to “verify” something. We get it.

That is why we want to explain, in simple terms, why Fabulate asks creators to authenticate their TikTok, Instagram or YouTube account, how it protects you, and what we actually have access to (and what we never see). We also want to explain how this relates to KYC, and why authentication is one of the most important steps to make sure you get paid safely and correctly.

This article is about transparency, trust and giving you full clarity on how Fabulate operates.

‍

Why Authentication Is Important for SEA Creators

In Southeast Asia, different countries have different regulations around identity and digital payments. Places like Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam have strict rules for financial services to make sure money goes to the right person.

Fabulate is not a financial services company and we are not required to run full KYC (Know Your Customer) checks. But in creator marketing, one thing matters above everything else:

We need to make sure the person creating the content is the same person receiving the payment. Authentication gives us that assurance.

When you authenticate your TikTok, Instagram or YouTube account through the official API connection, we can confirm:

  • you are the real owner of the account
  • nobody else is impersonating you
  • the brand is working with the right person
  • payments go to the correct creator

It is the most important protection for you and the brands you work with.

What Fabulate Does Access When You Authenticate

When you connect your social account via OAuth (the official login method platforms provide), Fabulate receives:

  • your public profile information
  • your follower and engagement statistics
  • your content performance data (if you give permission)

This data is used only to match you with campaigns, help brands choose the right creators and ensure you receive the correct payment for your work. Everything is read-only and provided directly by the platform you trust.

What Fabulate Absolutely Does Not Access

Authentication does not give Fabulate:

  • your account password
  • your private messages
  • your drafts
  • your login details
  • your full content library
  • the ability to post on your behalf
  • the ability to edit, delete or change anything on your accounts

You stay in complete control. Always.

And if you ever finish working with us, you can disconnect Fabulate immediately in your TikTok, Instagram or YouTube settings. You don’t need to ask us - you have full control.

Why This Matters for Payments (And How It Relates to KYC)

KYC (Know Your Customer) is typically used by banks and financial companies to verify identity before moving money. Fabulate is not required to perform full KYC because:

  • we do not offer a wallet
  • we do not hold creator money for long periods
  • we do not allow creators to store a balance
  • we do not perform currency conversion
  • we do not process remittances independently

Instead, Fabulate pays creators through regulated banking partners that already follow local KYC and AML (anti-money laundering) rules.

However, authentication acts as the creator equivalent of KYC.

It tells us:

  • you are the legitimate owner of the creator account
  • no one else can claim the money meant for you
  • brands are working with a real person
  • we can pay you accurately and securely

On top of this, every creator payment made through Fabulate is independently verified through a direct KPMG call, which is an additional layer of protection to ensure payments are legitimate, compliant and sent to the correct individual.

Why Authentication Protects You as a Creator

Connecting your account might seem like an extra step, but it protects you in three key ways:

1. It guarantees you get credit for your work.

Nobody can impersonate your profile, claim your content or misrepresent your audience.

2. It ensures your payment is secure.

Authentication ensures funds go to you, not to someone pretending to be you.

3. It makes your profile instantly eligible for campaigns.

Brands value trust, transparency and verified data - authentication gives them that confidence.

You Stay In Full Control

The most important thing to know is, you can disconnect Fabulate at any time.

TikTok, Instagram and YouTube let you revoke access instantly in your settings. You don’t need to contact us. You don’t need approval. You stay fully in control.

We designed Fabulate this way on purpose, so creators can work confidently without losing ownership of their accounts or data.

Our Commitment to Creator Safety

Fabulate is fully SOC 2 compliant, meaning we follow independently audited global standards for:

  • data security
  • privacy
  • confidentiality
  • operational integrity

Your information is protected at every step.

In Summary

Authentication is not about controlling your account. It is about protecting your identity, your work and your payments.

Fabulate uses authentication because:

  • it keeps creators safe from impersonation
  • it ensures campaigns are delivered by real people
  • it guarantees that you get paid correctly
  • it meets regional expectations across SEA
  • it does not require you to give up any account access
  • it keeps you fully in control at all times

It is one of the most important steps in building a safe, trusted creator marketplace across Southeast Asia.
